Who We Are
Founded in 2025, Backyard Farm is a coalition of biologists, climate scientists, and students addressing food security and climate challenges. Our mission is to empower individuals to grow climate-resilient crops in their backyards, fostering a sustainable food system. We provide training, tools like drought-resistant seeds, and community networks to promote urban gardening. Our AI-powered web app enhances this mission with features like plant disease identification via photo analysis, offering diagnoses and eco-friendly solutions, personalized water reminders, and a curated news feed aggregating climate and agricultural updates from multiple sources. These tools reduce carbon emissions, mitigate urban heat, enhance biodiversity, and strengthen community resilience.
We believe that by equipping individuals with the knowledge, tools, and support to grow food in their own backyards, we can build a more resilient food system for Nigeria.
